Title
Letter from Lord Rawdon to George, Prince of Wales regarding George III's answer [relating to the settlement of the Prince's debts] and the Duke of York's distress at the matter, and support of the Prince
Date
7 October [?1787]
Writer
Rawdon, 1st Baron
Addressee
George, Prince of Wales (1762-1830)
Description
Lord Rawdon writes that Lord Thurlow had shown him George III's answer, and suggested Rawdon write immediately to the Prince and wait on him. Rawdon also discussed the answer with the Duke of York who 'entreats that you will not make any final arrangements till he shall have conversed with you'. Rawdon advises that the Prince's 'firmness & magnanimity' in this matter will yield more advantage than a 'more gracious determination on the part of the King'.
