Description
Lord Lieutenancy of Montgomery, vacant by the death of the Earl of Powis, to be offered to the present Earl. Russell suggests that the Earl of Powis' Garter may be offered to the Duke of Norfolk. Bishop of Manchester ready to do homage when and where Queen Victoria may appoint. Russell hears that the Juries in Ireland are acting well. This justifies the Government in not proposing Courts Martial. The distress is lamentable. Many starve owing to neglect of Boards of Guardians. Sir John Hobhouse says Lord Falkland is likely to be approved by the Board of Control. Russell proposes that the
