Description
Lord Stanley writes that General Lord Aylmer has declined the offer of the governorship of Malta on the grounds of old age. Lord Stanley therefore recommends to Queen Victoria the appointment of Patrick Stuart (brother of the late Lord Blantyre) as the successor to Sir Henry Bouverie. Lord Stanley also sends congratulations on the birth of the Princess [Alice].
