Description
George Anson writes that Lord Fortescue's son [Viscount Hugh Errington] has resigned the commission, leaving it available for Lord Exeter's son. He discusses his conversation with [Lord] Ashley regarding government matters including Lord Ashley's expectation that the new Factory Bill will be defeated by a small majority. George Anson writes of the prevalent feeling that Prince Albert has adopted Sir Robert Peel's views on the Factory Bill. Furthermore, Lord Melbourne is angry with Lord John Russell and Lord Palmerston for their factory votes. George Anson also mentions the banker, Jones Lloyd's opinion on labour legislation. He further writes that Christ's Hospital is gratified by the Prince of Wales' patronage but is anxious for a visit from Prince Albert.
